The Old Guard – Trailer, Release Date and More!

Netflix is known for bringing fascinating movies to thrill the audiences. And this time, it is no different. The streaming service has introduced a film titled ‘The Old Guard’ whose story revolves around a leader of a group of immortal mercenaries who has to fight the evil for good to emerge victoriously.

The fantasy-action movie stars Charlize Theron in the lead. She is known for giving some of the most memorable performances. For example, ‘Atomic Blonde’ and the latest one, ‘Bombshell’, and received Oscar nominations for her performances, too! And going by the looks of it, she has yet again managed to pack a punch with her excellent performance.

Gina Prince-Bythewood will direct the movie. The screenplay is written by Greg Rucka, who has written the novel of the same name with Leandro Fernandez.

‘The Old Guard’ Movie Plot:

The film follows a group leader Andy (Theron) who is out to save her clan of immortal mercenaries when it looks like their secret identity won’t be so mysterious anymore. She, along with Nile (Kiki Layne) has to do everything in her power to defeat evil forces who threaten the group’s existence.

The storyline sounds a lot like that of ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, in the sense that both the groups in the movies have to keep their identities as immortals or wizard, a secret. Nonetheless, it does not mean that the film is any less in its entertainment factor.

The trailer, which released on May 21, 2020, looks very promising with Charlize being the new action heroine who perfectly suits her role as an Alpha Female. And Chiwetel Ejiofor makes for the perfect villain as a cunning British pharmaceutical executive, out to make selfish gains from the powers of the immortals.

If the movie is as good as the trailer, then Netflix has another blockbuster in its kitty.
