ENG vs IND: There may be a change in the Test team against England, Virat Kohli gave big hints!- Southampton, India skipper Virat Kohli hinted at a change in the Test team after their World Test Championship final defeat at the hands of New Zealand, saying after a performance review, the right people will be brought in with the right mindset to perform well.
Senior batsman Cheteshwar Pujara scored eight runs in 54 balls and played 35 balls for his first run. He then scored 15 runs in 80 balls in the second innings. New Zealand easily achieved the target of 139 runs.
Kohli said in the post-match online press conference, “We will continue to introspect and talk about what needs to be done to make the team stronger.” Will not follow the same track.
“We will not wait for a year,” he said. If you look at our limited overs team, we have the depth and the players are full of confidence. It is needed in Test cricket as well.
Kohli further said, “We have to plan afresh by reviewing and understanding what is effective for the team and how we can play fearlessly. We have to bring in the right people who come in with the right mindset to perform well.
He also talked about scoring runs in front of a brilliant bowling attack like New Zealand. “We have to work on how to score runs. We don’t have to let the match get out of our hands. I don’t think there is any technical problem.
He asked the batsmen to strike a balance between taking planned risks and staying at the crease. “The focus should be on scoring runs, not worrying about losing wickets. Similarly, you can put pressure on the opposing team or else you will play with the fear of getting out. You have to take planned risks.
